OT Assessments for Charities

OT Assessments for your clients

We have been providing OT assessments for Charities and Benevolent funds since 2002. We have extensive knowledge of wheelchairs, scooters, beds, riser recliners, stairlifts and aids for daily living. We can assess for environmental adaptions and provide specifications (i.e. level access showers, property access, ramping, kitchen modifications).

What we look at during an OT Assessment.

Below is an outline of some of the things that we look at during a typical assessment. Key points are – we visit clients at home, we take out equipment to trial when appropriate (essential for EPV assessments, to reduce potential problems before they arise) and we do our best to manage client expectations within the remit we are given. Even once the report has been sent we are always here to help. You and your clients are never left to struggle alone.

EPV

We check clients ability to drive the scooter/wheelchair safely (including vision, hearing & cognition).

Riser Recliner

We provide measurements and specifications for appropriate seating to aid posture and assist transfers.

Transportable EPV

We check clients/relatives are safe lifting the parts into their vehicle - to avoid potential problems.

Wheelchair/Seating

If the client has more complex needs, pressue sores or poor posture we can arrange a joint visit with a specialist provider to make sure the equipment is correct.

Bathing

We assess client's ability to use existing facilities and trial of bathing equipment which may meet needs and potentially save money!

Level access shower

We will provide recommendations and specifications (if required) with clear clinical reasoning.

Bed

We can assess bed transfers and recommend equipment to assist or offer advice on adjustable beds.

Stairlift

Can the client manage with stair rails? Is there enough space for the client to sit with knees bent for the duration of travel?

Could you or a member of your family benefit from help?

In our experience charities and benevolent funds in the UK do some incredible work. On a local level we are amazed at the dedication local volunteers show providing care and information to their clients. If you or a member of your extended family for example has links with the armed forces and feels they could do with some help, then it is worth contacting organisations like SSAFA or The Royal British Legion and discussing your situation.
